Westlake High School Band
Under the direction of Mr. Cedric V. Young; Located in South Fulton County on the Southside of Atlanta, Georgia, the Westlake High School Band Program is a dynamic and distinguished music program serving more than 140 student musicians. Comprising the Mighty Marching Lions, the Westlake Jazz Ensemble, and the Symphonic Band, the program has become one of the premier music education offerings in Fulton County and throughout the state of Georgia.
At the helm is veteran educator Mr. Cedric V. Young, whose more than 36 years of experience in music education have shaped a culture of excellence rooted in professionalism, discipline, and artistic growth. Under Mr. Young’s leadership, Westlake’s band program develops not only elite musicians but well-rounded students who excel in both academics and leadership.
The program is known for producing notable alumni who have gone on to perform, teach, and lead in music, education, and professional industries across the country. The foundation of the program is built on a dual commitment to strong musicianship and academic achievement. Westlake band students are held to high standards on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.
